Obituary for Roger Dale Kent

EATONTON: Roger Dale Kent, 71, of Possum Point Drive, died Monday, January 25, 2021, at a Valdosta area hospital. The family will greet friends from 6:00pm-8:00pm, Thursday, at Gray Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, January 29, 2021, in the chapel of Gray Memorial Chapel with Bishop Wilse Davis officiating.

Mr. Kent was born February 19, 1949, in Macon and had lived most of his life in Jones County. He was the son of the late Reuben Kent, Jr. and Beatrice Purvis Kent and was a member of Chosen Church of God in Eatonton. Mr. Kent was a truck driver for Howard Sheppard, Inc. and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He loved to travel, doing yardwork and tinkering with his trucks and cars. Mr. Kent was preceded in death by his brothers: Rueben Kent, III and Ronald Kent.

Mr. Kent is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years: Jo Anne Willis Jenkins; step-children: Gayla Hunnicutt (Keith), Tammy Barton (Bobby), Tiffany Harvill (Robert) and Blake Jenkins (Candice); grandchildren: Dustin Hostetter and Morgan Tucker; step-grandchildren: Brooklin Barton and Briley Barton; sister: Sandra K. Smith; sisters-in-law: Helen Kent, Mary Willis Clark and Martha Willis Burgamy and by several nieces and nephews.
