Obituary for Lorene Frost (Jackson)

Lorene Jackson Frost of Milledgeville, Georgia died on Friday February 11 at age 78 in a single car accident. Lorene was born to Edison and Rose Jackson in 1944. She attended Pearl Stevens Elementary school, then Mount De Sales high school in Macon where she was President of the sorority Sigma Delta Pi. She graduated in 1962 and then attended Middle Georgia College in Cochran. Lorene married Pete Henderson, who she later divorced, raising son Dutch on her own until she met Wayne Frost whom she married in 1985. The couple remained happily married for 38 years until her passing.

Lorene was a florist and hairdresser in Macon, eventually working alongside her beloved sisters at the family salon, Attaway Cottage until she retired.

Lorene's vibrant and nurturing personality made her a mother to many in need and friend to all her knew her. Fondly described as sassy and classy, she was a true Southern Lady who loved to entertain and keep guest full of good food and laughter. A natural beauty who always turned heads. Her sister Cheryl Attaway, recalls the boys her age would pretend to come visit her but actually waiting for Lorene to drive up and walk past them in her short skirts. Her love for little ones was immense, and you would not leave a restaurant without her stopping by a table to talk to a young mother and her baby. Although Lorene was known for being the sweetest of ladies, she was no pushover. She once turned the tables on a would-be robber who broke into her hotel room and pointed a gun at her. She kept him calm and when he turned his head, she grabbed her gun from under her pillow and held him at gunpoint. The terrified man exclaimed, "My gun is not loaded!!" Lorene began preaching to him to turn his life around and sent him on his way with $20 from her pocketbook. That was Lorene. Beautiful, sweet, nurturing & funny...but do NOT cross her honey!

Lorene is preceded in death by her mother Rose Jackson, father Edison Jackson, step-son Greg Frost, sister Linda Bone, and her brother Larry Jackson. She is survived by her husband Wayne Frost, son Dutch Henderson, step-daughter, Loresa Norris, former daughter in law Lisa Johnson, sister Cheryl Attaway, grandsons Camden Henderson and Zachary Kohler, granddaughters, Anna Claire and McKinley Norris and great grandson August Henderson as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service celebrating the life of this radiant woman will be held at Gray Memorial Chapel and Crematory at 4378 Gray Hwy in Gray, Georgia on Thursday February 16, 2023 at 4pm, with visitation starting at 3pm.
