Obituary for Lonnie Lecile Smith Sr.

JONES COUNTY: Lonnie L. "Bud" Smith, Sr., 80, of Eatonton Highway, died Monday, May 23, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. The family will greet friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Wednesday, at Gray Memorial Chapel in Gray and from 10:00am to 11:00am, Thursday at Haddock Baptist Church in Haddock. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Haddock Baptist Church with Dr. Ron McClung, Dr. Hambric Brooks and Rev. Barry Collins officiating. Interment will be at Haddock Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Smith was born September 30, 1941, in Telfair County and had lived in Jones County for the past thirty years. He was the son of the late Harry Marion Smith and Bessie Davis Smith. Mr. Smith was a retired electronics technician for Robins Air Force Base and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, Alabama Football and tending to his herd of cattle. Mr. Smith was a former board member for Jones County Farm Bureau and a member of the Georgia Cattleman's Association. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and served as a deacon for Haddock Baptist Church, where he was a member.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of sixty-one years: Betty Smith; children: Lonnie Smith, Jr. (Shannon) and Tina Havard (Joe); grandchildren: Lonnie "Lee" Smith, III, Misty Havard, Anna Cheves, Kathleen Taylor and Grayson Smith and by his six great-grandchildren.

Flowers will be accepted, however those who wish may make contributions may be made to Hospice Care Options, 486 New Street, Macon, Georgia 31201.
