Obituary for Josephine Griffin (Griffin)

Josephine Griffin, born June 9, 1950, to the late John W. Griffin, Sr and the late Rose Etta Burton Griffin, has departed this life on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. Born and raised in Bibb County/Macon, she attended Bibb County Public Schools until 1966, when she moved to Jersey City, New Jersey, completed her education and sought a trade through Jersey City Job Corps.

Upon completion of Job Corps, Josephine met and built a twenty-five year relationship with LeRoy H Stevens, Sr. She actively served as an Eastern Star, where she completed many charitable events. Josephine worked various jobs throughout the years. She became a custodial worker with Jersey City Board of Education, where she quickly became the Senior Black Seal Certified Boiler Operator, retiring in 2015.

Josephine was preceded in death by her youngest daughter: Cassandra L. Griffin; grandchild: Loline Griffin; Sisters: Johnnie Bose and Olerria L. Griffin and a brother: Rufus Griffin.

Left to mourn her passing are her surviving children: Victoria Howell (Antoine), Alfonso Griffin (Theresa) and LaRose Griffin; siblings: Martha Ann Howell (Nee Griffin), Georgia Lee Griffin (James), Emma G. Griffin (Bell), Eddie Griffin, John Griffin, Jr. and Raymond Griffin; Seventeen grandchildren; Twelve great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews she claimed as her children; several cousins, friends and her bestie: Sharon.
