Joe Manley Hilliard of Rentz Ga., died Friday, January 31st, 2020 surrounded by his loving family at the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon. A visitation will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, followed by a memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. at Gray Memorial Chapel and Crematory 4378 Gray Highway Gray, Ga. Interment will follow at a later date at Bowersville City Cemetery in Bowersville, Ga.
Mr. Hilliard was an educator with the state of Georgia and retired after 21 years of service. He was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to classical music, and being outside walking his property with his beloved pets.
Joe Hilliard was born February 26th, 1942 in Clarkesville Ga. and had lived in Rentz for the past 14 years. He was the son of the late Everette Edward and Alice Manley Hilliard. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Janice Edwards and Farrice White, and brothers Butler Hilliard and Glenn Hilliard.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Patricia Fries Hilliard; sons Brian (Hollie) Hilliard of Gray and Joseph (Bridget) Hilliard of Clarkesville; grandchildren Ruby Madeline Hilliard, William Edward Hilliard, Natalie Caroline Hilliard, and Hannah Catherine Hilliard; sisters Gail Hopkins and Christianna Knowles; brothers Edward Hilliard and Hugh Hilliard and numerous nieces and nephews.
