JONES COUNTY: George Thomas Hunt, Jr., 101, died Monday, September 14, 2020, at a local nursing home. The family will greet friends from 10:00am-11:00am, Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at Gray Memorial Chapel in Gray. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am. Interment will be at 2:00pm, at West View Cemetery in Atlanta.

Mr. Hunt was born December 11, 1918, in Sycamore to the late George Thomas Hunt, Sr and Carabelle Dowis Hunt. He honorably served his country with the United States Navy and was the recipient of the Purple Heart due to injuries sustained from a kamikaze pilot attack. Mr. Hunt was a retired tool layout technician for Lockheed Corporation and a member of First Baptist Church of Gray. He loved to fish and always said "If people had their priorities right, there would be a shortage of fishing poles!" Mr. Hunt was preceded in death by his wives: Marjorie Hunt and Mattie Hunt.

Mr. Hunt is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law: George T., III and Becky Hunt, Jack and Ann Hunt and Joe and Karen Hunt; step-children and spouses: Brenda and Allen Cagle and Ronnie and Linda Priest; ten grandchildren and by seven great-grandchildren.
