Obituary for Emory Herbert ""Herby"" Googe
Jones County: Emory Herbert "Herby" Googe passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 15, 2023 at Atrium Navicent Health surrounded by his loving family. A service of remembrance will be held on Sunday February 19, 2023 with the visitation starting at 2:00 PM and memorial service to follow at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Eddie Windham will be officiating.
Born on September 19, 1949 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late William Hiram Googe and Mildred Oakes Googe. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy with distinction receiving the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary (Korea) and Combat Zone - Gulf of Tonkin. He was the big DAWG in middle Georgia for his golfing skills and known in the golfing community for his course records. "If you didn't know him, you knew of him".
Herby is survived by his loving partner Connie Heath, children, David W. Googe and his daughter Brylee Googe, Amy Sims (Joseph) and there daughter, Larkin Sims, Kenneth Weekley and his children Corey and Kevin Weekley (MaKenzie), Stephen Weekley and his children Stephanie (Chris), Chelsea (Chad) Rose, and 4 great grandchildren Karson, and A.J. Weekley, Ava and Jameson Rose and multiple nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Saint Jude Children's Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or stjude.org.
