Obituary for Billy Wayne Lawler

Billy Wayne "Papa" Lawler, 78, of Doe Court, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. The family will greet friends from 10:30 am to 11:00 am, Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Gray Memorial Chapel in Gray. Memorial services will follow at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel with Mr. Kevin Wiggins officiating.

Mr. Lawler was born May 13, 1944, in Adel and had lived in Jones County most of his life. He was the son of the late Keefer Lawler and Arzana Whitehead Lawler. Mr. Lawler honorably served his country with the United States Air Force, stationed in Germany. He was a retired technician for BellSouth Communications with more than forty years of service. Mr. Lawler loved to read, often reading multiple books at the same time. He was a doting "Papa" to his grandchildren, never far away, imparting his wisdom and attending games or other functions in support.

Mr. Lawler is survived by his wife of thirty years: Gail Lawler; daughters: Kelly Jarratt (Matt) and Jenny Jones (David); grandchildren: Trent Simmons (Kaitlyn Gaskins), Ashton Jones, Carson Jarratt, Madi Jarratt; brother: Joe Lawler and by several nieces and nephews.
