Obituary for Anita Louise Maitland (Purvis)

Anita Louise Maitland, 80, of Byron Drive, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021, at a local hospice facility, after an extended illness. The family will greet friends from 3:00pm-4:00pm, Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Gray Memorial Chapel. Services will follow at 4:00pm, with Rev. John Haney Officiating.

Mrs. Maitland was born November 26, 1940, in LaGrange, Kentucky and had lived in Macon for the past forty-five years. She was the daughter of the late T.W. Purvis and Senora Williams Purvis. Mrs. Maitland was retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Corporation with thirty-four years of service. She was devoted to her family and loved RV traveling with her husband and family. Mrs. Maitland also enjoyed making porcelain dolls, square dancing, gardening and yard sales. She was preceded in death by a brother: Billy Purvis; a sister and brother-in-law: Anne Mae and Gene Fey, Sr and a sister-in-law: Rosie Purvis.

Mrs. Maitland is survived by her husband of thirty-six years: George Maitland, Macon; brother: Herbert "Ace" Purvis; daughters: Pam Lukat, Macon, Frances Ann Hewell (Buddy), Gray, Charolette Cleghorn (Dorsey), Gray and Robin Endicott, Macon; son: Chandler W. Maitland, Macon; step-children: Tracy Maitland-Martin (Leonard), Dinwiddie, Virginia, Charles L. Maitland (Karen), Dinwiddie, Virginia and George T. Maitland (Sarah), Irmo, South Carolina; fifteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and extended family and friends.
